Fresenius Medical Care AG, or FMC for short, with its legal headquarters in Hof-Saale and operational headquarters in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, is a leading German provider dialysis business into Grace's National Medical Care. In 2000, the company pleaded guilty to billing Medicare for unnecessary medical tests and to paying kickbacks for lab business and paid a $486 million fine. 2012, the company acquired Liberty Dialysis Holding, which added 201 clinics, for $1.5 billion. In 2013, the company acquired Shiel Medical Laboratory, expanding services to New York City metro area, which then sold this business to Quest Diagnostics 2017. In 2019, the company has Securities & Exchange Commission to settle allegations of civil bribery to obtain business in 13 countries. That is also Angola, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, & Spain. 2023, the company was certified by the monitor that its compliance program is reasonably designed and implemented to detect and prevent violations of the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The Jiate Excelsior in 2007 has become a leading dialysis provider in Asia, & completed many other acquisitions from 2024. The Fresenius Medical Care sold its 154 dialysis clinics also in Brazil, Colombia, Chile & Ecuador to their USA competitor DaVita for 300 million US dollars, (276 million euros).
